Anniversary Weekend part 1 - Ember Grille & Wine Bar at L'Auberge Lake Charles

Sunday March 11th, marks the 5th year anniversary of my wife & I meeting. To celebrate, we took a mini road trip from our home in Spring, TX to Lake Charles, LA to see one of our favorite outlaw singer songwriters, Willie Nelson on Friday March 9th at The Golden Nugget. We decided to stay across the street at L'Auberge because the room was about $100 cheaper than The Nugget. We were lucky to receive a free upgrade to a suite! Friends, let me tell you, this room was AMAZING!!!

After relaxing in the room for a little while, it was time to head downstairs for dinner. The concert was at 8:30pm, hotel check in was at 4pm, so we made dinner reservations for 5:30pm at Ember Grille & Wine Bar. We arrived about 10 minutes before they actually opened. The hostess led us into a lounge area with several couches to wait for our table. Once seated, our attentive waiter, Lee took great care of us. While we looked over the drink menu, he brought a delicious bread basket filled with 3 different types of bread & 2 butters.  After looking over the menu, Shelly chose a cocktail & I went with a beer. We decide to share the "Ember Signature Prime Rib Eye -  36 oz. Rib Eye Carved Table-Side, Choice of Two Signature Sauces & Two Sides". I am glad we didn't get an app or dessert, because this was A LOT of food. We couldn't finish the side or bread. We absolutely loved the steak & look forward to ordering it again. If you add a couple soups or salads & this would be a perfect meal for 4.

Once we finished dinner, we stepped outside to catch the trolley that runs every 15 minutes between the 2 properties. This is really convenient.

We actually arrived to the concert area about 20 minutes early & were the first people in the Flash Seats line. It wasn't that long of a wait before we were lead to our seats.

Awesome performance! Willie played 90 minute set of his famous hits. This was my second time seeing Willie. I was worried we would miss this show. He's 84 years old and had to cancel a few dates on this tour due to health issues.

Stay tuned for part 2, coming soon....
