Alaskan Cruise 2018 - Day 2

Day 2 - Thursday, May 24, 2018

We started off the morning with a short walk to the The Hollywood Cafe. This place was right next door to our hotel. As we rounded the corner, my BIL, Shannon was standing there smoking a cigarette. He decided to join us for breakfast while everyone else slept in. He ordered one of their Morning Sandwiches, while Shelly & I each chose a Three Egg Scramble. A B.A.T. for her & Chilaquiles for myself. The 2 of them seemed to enjoy their dishes. Mine was tasty but I have never been served chilaquiles with just a handful of chips on the plate. Normally, they are cooked in a sauce. We all 3 shared a side order of the sensational Sweet Bacon. (This may have been the best part of the meal)
CLASSIC SANDWICH on Whole Wheat Bread with egg, bacon & mild cheddar cheese

THREE EGG SCRAMBLE Served with seasoned Hash Browns & an English Muffin
B.A.T. - bacon, avocado, tomato & mild cheddar cheese

Chilaquiles - chorizo, avocado, cherry pepper mozzarella cheese, corn chips & tomatillo salsa

Sweet Bacon: glazed with maple syrup, fresh orange juice, brown sugar & Grand Marnier.

House-made mixed berry jam (on each table)

After we finished breakfast, it was time to meet up with my friend Kerri & her son Aric. Kerri is an old high school buddy. You may remember my story from our last trip to San Fransisco, she was the one that bailed on us, causing us to almost die. We lived & are grateful that she took such good care of us this time. First up was a visit near the Golden Gate Bridge, so I could get some better pics.

Shelly & I collect license plates from places we have visited. Kerri helped us find some that we were missing.

Kerri then took us to lunch. She knows I'm a burger geek, so she picked a perfect place in Scolari’s Good Eats. Aric ordered a regular cheeseburger, while the rest of us each got a Blueberry Bacon Blue Cheese Au Poivre Burger. The name alone is a mouthful. This bad boy was one bodacious burger. The four us also shared 3 different sides... The great Garlic Scampi Fries, some fantastic Frickles, & heavenly House-Made Potato Chips. I still have dreams about this place!

After we returned back to the hotel, we took a nap before meeting Shannon & Katie (Shelly's brother & niece) for dinner at Brick & Beam, located inside the Hyatt Centric Fisherman's Wharf San Francisco. This was a rather disappointing meal. I went their website, to make sure I got the descriptions correct. It now looks like they offer a new menu. I had to look on Yelp, to find the menu we ordered from. Shelly, Katie & I shared some mediocre pizza & weak wings. Shannon ordered some boring chicken fried chicken. With the new menu options, this may be a good place to try out. The food we had, left a lot to be desired though.

Chicken Wings -  sweet ginger soy, ranch dressing

Chicken Wings - smokey bbq, celery,
ranch dressing

Mary's Farm Buttermilk Fried Chicken Breast with fork smashed potatoes

Classic Pizza - pepperoni, mozzarella, marinara

Tune in next week for the Day 3 recap. See ya soon!
