Sensational Shelly & El Jefe
On this day was another port day. We visited Skagway, The Yukon & Emerald Lake. We scheduled a private tour with Elements of Alaska. Our tour guide, Nichelle, was incredibly good. She even helped me get some great videos of wildlife. My niece, Katie & I ended up taking over 200 photos. Here are a few samples:
Although this may look like a painting, it is in fact a photo
We stopped to visit a friend of Nichelle's, who is a road side vendor. Her dog ran right up to me, wanting to play tug o' war.
She sells drinks, snacks & a few souvenir type items. I was able to get this awesome license plate.
We stopped off for lunch at the Bistro on Bennett, where we all had a beautiful bison burger.
Next we had Nichelle drop us off at downtown Skagway so we could pick up a few more souvenirs.
We returned to the ship, where Shelly & her niece Katie were able to pet some puppies from the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
Then it was time for dinner in the main dining room.
Blood & Sand Cocktail
Whiskey, cherry brandy, vermouth, orange juice
Rustic Beef & Vegetable Hot Pot
crisp baked miniature empanada
Classic Caesar Salad
crisp romaine lettuce, Caesar dressing, Parmesan, herb croutons, anchovies upon request
Pepper Crusted Aged Rib Eye Steak
green asparagus, rosemary roasted new potatoes, Cafe de Paris butter
I have eaten a lot of Beef Stroganoff, but never have I seen pickles included. This was an odd, yet delicious twist.
