2019 World Cruise - Day 14

Wednesday 01.16.19 - oh look, ANOTHER sea day

Once again, we started the day off at the breakfast buffet. Today, we sat with fellow passenger Hugo, who I believe said he was from Denmark. One of the things I enjoy most about cruising is meeting all the different people from all parts of the world. While we chatted with our new friend, I enjoyed a 3 egg "everything" omelette. It was so big, that I could not finish it.

Shelly had her usual tasty breakfast, an omelette with bacon, ham, jalapenos, and peppers, topped with salsa. Also a pecan pancake & cottage cheese. They offer 3 flavors of mini pancakes that change each day.

After breakfast we attended the 10am Destination Presentation, hosted by destination expert Deb Fraioli for information on our upcoming port Puerto Vallarta.

This was followed by the intensely informative 10:45am Enrichment Lecture on Jon Benet Ramsey with Gary Koverman. I heard things about this case for the first time ever. There were too many details for me to list all of them here. Just trust me, that if you ever have the opportunity the listen to Mr. Kovermen, do it.

Next, we went to lunch in the main dining room.

I had the soup/salad/sandwich combo. Starting with a great roasted corn chowder, made even better with the addition of habanero salsa from yesterday’s awesome lunch at Finca Don Gabriel.

Next was a chilled refreshing salad with honey mustard dressing.

Followed by a giant sandwich. I asked for the ½ portion but was served a whole delicious sandwich. The waffle potatoes reminded me of the Bugles snack chips. I had asked for standard French fries as a substitute, but they brought me an entire plate full of fries.

I finished off my lunch with two scoops of fruity vanilla ice cream.

As for Shelly's meal, she says, "I enjoyed cauliflower fritters and added some salsa for a lil kick. The cheese sauce was mild and creamy which paired well with breaded cauliflower."

"My cup of  Greek chicken broth looked like egg drop soup but had light lemon tones."

"I loved my entree salad and made it even better when I added some of Heath's waffle fries. The lemon vinaigrette was great and I hope to get this again."

"For my dessert, I had a yummy banana savarin. This looked like a donut that was soaked in syrup, cut in half and filled with a banana cream."

After lunch, we went back to the room to watch Cafe Society & work on blog post covering day 5 of this cruise.

I took a short power nap, then it was time to meet the group for dinner.

I started my dinner with a colossal crab cake, that was crazy good. I really enjoyed this dish. My only complaint would be that there was not enough remoulade sauce.

My chowder, was pretty good. It was loaded with lots of veggies. I think it would have been better with more meat.

Mac n cheese is one of my all time favorite dishes. This one I had for my entree was magnificent & decadently creamy. It was made even better when I added some grilled chicken.

My better half, also decided to have the crab cake. She agreed with my assessment that it was amazing.

Next she had, what she thought was a pretty good Thai soup with bits of chicken and mushrooms. She added jalapeno slices to bring up the spicy. One thing we learned from our Thai waiter is that none of the "Thai" dishes offered are anywhere close to authentic, he usually deterred us from ordering any of them. So with his advice I squeezed a lemon slice and added plenty of jalapenos.

For her entree, she too had that magnificent Mac N Cheese. "I loved the creamy white cheese, tiny elbow noodles, and crunchy bacon pieces. What's not to like?"

Next up was dessert, where I made a silly mistake & forgot to take pictures of the menu. I had some simple yet tasty chocolate ice cream.

Shelly had a disappointing slice of pecan butterscotch pie. It It looked exactly like the chocolate pecan pie à la mode, from lunch on day 9. The only difference was a dab of butterscotch on the plate instead of ice cream.

After dinner, we returned to our room. We needed to get to sleep because we have an early arrival at our next stop of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
