2019 World Cruise - Days 38 & 39
Saturday 02.09.19 - Sea Day
We were originally scheduled to stop at Nuku'alofa, Tonga (7am - 4pm) but at 5:25pm on Mon 02.04.19, the captain announced they we will be skipping this port due to bad weather. This will result in us arriving early for Auckland, New Zealand on Mon 02.11.19
We slept in until around 10am. I woke up & began working on my blog, mostly organizing photos.
12pm MDR Lunch
I had…
Ham Rolls - this is the 2nd time I've ordered these. The 1st time they were so good!
Gumbo - loaded with chicken & sausage.
Rigatoni + Grilled Chicken - great, very filling dish with a nice cheese sauce. I was so full, we skipped dessert.
Shelly had…
Gumbo - light roux, but lots of okra and meat, overall good mild flavors
Salad - this was just another boring salad
Rigatoni - cheesy but otherwise bland. I added red pepper flakes to make it better.
Back to the room to load pics & take a nap. When we arrived, there was a gift waiting for us. Our fellow passenger Allison
left us a bag of local snacks.
We watched tv & I worked on the blog.
7:45pm MDR Dinner
I had…
Grilled chicken salad + shrimp - when they first set the plate down, I didn’t even see the shrimp. Once our waiter pointed them out, they looked like those mini canned shrimp.
Chowder - excellent soup.
Cowboy Steak - for a cheap cut of meat, this was delicious. I will probably be ordering this one again.
Mac N Cheese - another old school comfort food, that the kitchen does a great job making.
Ice Cream - another easy decision dessert.
Shelly had…
Tom Kah Gai - decent but I like to add more lemon juice and jalapenos.
Mac n cheese - really creamy white mac with a light serving of bacon crumbles.
Chocolate Journeys- rich, but I ate mostly the tart part which had caramel and a tiny amount of nougat.
After dinner we retired to our room, ready for another exciting day at sea.
Sunday 02.10.19 - Sea Day
11am Tropical Sunday Brunch: Assistant Maitre’D Norman & Executive Chef Giuseppe cordially invite you to a magnificent Tropical Sunday Brunch.
Last time it was so crowded, so I wasn't able to get any photos of the whole impressive spread. Today, Steve & I were able to be part of the group that went in early. Combined, we took over 50 photos. Shelly & I both chose similar items from our last visit. Boiled shrimp, steak, ham, roast pork, jambalaya, focaccia bread, cheeses, & deviled eggs.
7:45pm MDR Dinner
I had…
Shrimp cocktail - solid no worry pick Always great.
Fettuccine Alfredo - another solid, no worry pick. Always great.
Burger - It’s always interesting to see their take on things. The menu listed reindeer chili. I asked for it to be on the side. What I got was a bowl with sauteed onions & peppers. I’m not sure where the reindeer figures into that. It was still an awesome burger though.
Ice Cream - So far I have not been disappointed by any of my ice cream choices.
Shelly had…
Minestrone - this was different. The color green is not appealing but the flavors are good.
Medley salad - great, I love the 3 cheeses and walnut bits.
Veal - tender with light gravy. The star was the cauliflower side it's slightly roasted and had cream or cheese over it
Samosas - good creamy filling and the mint dipping sauce was tasty. For a sugar free option this was great.
Tomorrow we head to New Zealand!
